Coombs Creek Trail Phase II and III
Residents have been enjoying the first phase of Coombs Creek Trail. Now we have progress for the next two phases to completion. Phase II is scheduled for design completion in February 2010 and Construction to begin in August 2010. The design for the improvements to Stevens Park Golf Course will include establishing a route through the golf course for phase III of Coombs Creek Trail from the tennis courts to Hampton. I will update you through this ongoing process.
Regional Hispanic Contractors Association
I was honored to be asked to speak at a press conference in support of the Regional Hispanic Contractors Association, formerly known as the Hispanic Contractors of DFW, to dedicate it's new Contractor Business Center in District 3 at 2210 Illinois. Proving that small businesses are the engine of our economy, this group has grown from 42 to 800 members in four short years. We are proud to have them in Oak Cliff.
Oncor Electric Community Meeting
We had a successful neighborhood meeting regarding concerns of Oncor and their tree trimming process. It is important that we try to balance our need for reliable electric service while protecting the very thing that we love about living in Oak Cliff...our trees. Oncor is regulated by the Public Utility Commission and therefore your, my, and the City of Dallas' impact is primarily through influence such as community meetings we all participated in this last week. With over 100 neighbors in attendance, I am hopeful that Oncor got our message loud and clear.
Budget Town Hall Meetings
Thank you for attending our Budget Town Hall Meetings. I sincerely value your participation on prioritizing city services with your tax dollars. The overriding feedback to date has been to restore dollars and programs at our neighborhood Park and Recreation Centers. Your feedback is being taken into serious consideration as we work on approving the 2009-2010 City budget.
