Dave Neumann | Dallas City Council District 3: Oak Cliff, West Dallas, Mountain Creek, Kiest, The Woods

Please allow me to share some updates from across our District 3.
I appreciate your feedback.

Public Safety
I am pleased to report that according to the latest crime stats, our District 3 crime is down by 10% on a year to date basis compared to 6% for the City. Close coordination between neighbors and our Police Department is key to keeping crime down. To get detailed information, please click on the map to the left.

Trinity River Corridor Project
Our Trinity project reached another key milestone on June 26th with the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge as the keystone of the new arch was put in place. We hope to be driving on the bridge by the end of 2011. The Sylvan Avenue Bridge is fully funded and is now in the design phase and set to be completed by Summer 2012. The new bridge will be a major gateway for the Oak Cliff and West Dallas Community connecting with our northern neighbors.

Gas Drilling
The City of Dallas has received two applications for Special Use Permits for Gas Drilling: 1) near Hensley Field and 2) Camp Wisdom Road and FM 1382. Any requests for "Special Use Permits" require a Public Hearing at the Planning Commission and City Council. I plan to conduct community meetings for surrounding neighbors for us all to be better informed about Gas Drilling and its potential impact to the surrounding neighborhoods.

Fort Worth Avenue: Avalon at Kessler Park
Economic Development continues along Fort Worth Avenue with the Grand Opening of the Avalon at Kessler Park. A $30 million private investment to build an active senior independent living facility with 198 units. A great addition to North Oak Cliff.

Chevron Gas Station
Our Mountain Creek neighbors have too long had to endure a closed and abandoned gas station at Clark and Wheatland Road. A definite eyesore. We are all pleased that a new owner has paid the back taxes of $225,000, renovated the store, and now has opened the doors for business.

Loving My Community
Congratulations to Fox Hollow and Windridge Homeowners Association in Mountain Creek for receiving the 2010 Loving My Community Grant for enhancements to their neighborhood park.

This $9,000 grant will be used to enhance the children's play and pond areas with picnic tables to promote healthy lifestyles and neighborhood communication of the Fox Hollow Neighborhood Park.
